The school year is officially in full swing, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead for our students and families! As we kick off this new academic year, we want to share some exciting updates that have been months in the making.

Back-to-School Sponsorship from NW Natural
We are thrilled to announce that NW Natural has come on board as our generous sponsor for all things back-to-school! Thanks to their partnership, we were able to provide essential supplies, resources, and more to ensure our students and their families were well-prepared for the new school year. NW Natural’s support will make a significant impact as we continue our mission to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
New Grants to Power Our Mission
In addition to our partnership with NW Natural, we're excited to share that Greater Than has been awarded two significant grants this fall:
Youth Development Oregon
We are proud to have been awarded $220,000 over the next two years from Youth Development Oregon. The Community Investment – Promise Grant for the 23-25 Biennium supports a wide range of our key programming, including middle school success, math and literacy interventions, enrichment opportunities, and staff professional development.
Fred W. Fields Fund of Oregon Community Foundation
We are thrilled to announce that Greater Than has been awarded $50,000 per year for the next three years through the Oregon Community Foundation’s Out of School Time Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Program Quality Improvement Grant. This unique award not only supports our out-of-school-time programs but also connects us to a “Learning Community” of youth-serving organizations. Through this program, our staff will receive training on integrating Youth Program Quality Assessment (YPQA) best practices into our offerings, further strengthening the social-emotional learning (SEL) components of our work. We're particularly excited about this opportunity to improve and enhance our programming by learning from peers and sharing ideas in a collaborative space.
Give!Guide 2024
We’re also proud to announce that Greater Than has been selected to participate in Willamette Week’s Give!Guide for 2024! Out of over 1,000 applicants, only 250 nonprofits were chosen, and we are honored to be one of them. This year, Give!Guide offers us a unique opportunity to share our work with the wider Portland Metro community and gain new supporters.
In addition, a new PSA will be airing on XRAY.FM starting in November as part of our Give!Guide campaign. Keep your ears open for more exciting updates related to Give!Guide, and be sure to check out our PSA when it airs. We’ll be sharing more about how you can get involved and support us during this exciting time!
