Hillsboro Summer Programs & Success

Every summer, Greater Than conducts robust programming to help our students continue to grow and be prepared for the coming year. Our summer programs focus on building relationships, affirming academic skills, and continuing connection to set students and families up for success during times of transition. In Hillsboro this summer we are doing this through:

  • Kindergarten registration outreach

  • Jump Start Summer Camp

  • Door-to-door backpack and school supply delivery

  • Transition programming and enrichment activities for incoming 7th graders

Support all of this work and more by donating today!

LSES Jump Start Summer Camp

Lincoln Street Elementary School's Jump Start Summer Camp is currently in full swing for incoming K-4th grade students. The camp has a focus on literacy with teachers referring students in need of extra support. The camp offers instruction in both English and Dual Immersion.

Greater Than is thrilled to partner once again with PlayFitFun, turning recess into a time of structured play and active learning. Additionally, our collaboration with the Zoo Apprenticeship Program (ZAP) opens up a fascinating world of wildlife and conservation, inspiring a new generation of diverse students to explore the zoo field.

HSD Engagement and Outreach

Our Hillsboro team has again gone above and beyond with their community outreach by going door-to-door, spreading the word about kindergarten registration and the exciting Jump Start Summer Camp at Lincoln Street Elementary.

But their dedication doesn’t stop there. They’ve also been delivering backpacks packed with essential school supplies and hygiene products to incoming 7th graders at Evergreen Middle School. Each backpack comes with a lanyard featuring the photo and contact information of our Student Success Specialist, creating a personal connection and ensuring families know we’re here to support them every step of the way. Through these efforts, we’re not just providing resources; we’re building lasting relationships and fostering a supportive community.

EMS Summer Transition Program

Later this month, Evergreen Middle School will kick off an exciting Summer Transition Program for incoming 7th graders. The program is designed for newcomer students who have recently immigrated to the United States. Highlights include college visits to Portland Community College and Portland State University. These college tours will be led by two GT staff members who are both alumni of these institutions, and therefore, are both able to share their personal journeys and experiences. Additionally, students will embark on experiential learning outings to local spots like Rood Bridge Park. This program is all about fostering confidence, building connections, and making the transition to middle school as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Together, we can ensure that our students remain engaged, motivated, and prepared for the next academic year. Please consider making a donation to help us provide these crucial summer programs.
